Vien Doan, D.O.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Morningside College and a Medical Degree from Des Moines University, Dr. Doan went on to complete his residency focused on primary care at San Bernadino County Medical Center. He has provided medical services in the city of Riverside since 1988.
Dr. Doan came to America as a young teenager after the fall of Saigon in 1975. Rescued by the U.S. Navy’s 7th fleet and brought to Camp Pendleton, he and his family started their new life with the help of a kind sponsor family living in Iowa.
The early experience of unconditional love shown by this family touched his heart helping to shape his lifelong mission: to return and provide the gift of healing to the poor living in remote villages in Vietnam
As a result, Dr. Doan founded the Good Samaritan Medical Dental Ministry in 2000 — now the largest medical mission traveling to Vietnam. His humanitarian organization brings much needed healthcare services and medical training to people in underserved areas. Dr. Doan also leads Riverside’s Sister City partnership with Can Tho, Vietnam helping to build bridges through diplomacy, education and service.
Dr. Doan and his wife Grace have been married 41 years and are proud parents of three children: Luke, Ashley and Courtney.
